Masterframe Team Steps Out for Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk
On Sunday 4th October, three members of the Masterframe team – Steph, Rebecca and Sade – headed to London to take part in the Alzheimer’s Society Memory Walk, raising vital funds to support people affected by dementia.
It is a cause that has particular meaning for many people at Masterframe. Like so many families across the UK, members of our team have personal experience of the impact dementia can have, whether through supporting loved ones today or having done so in the past. Taking part in the Memory Walk was an opportunity to do something positive together while supporting a charity whose work means so much to so many.
Walking for a world without the devastation of dementia
Alzheimer’s Society works to improve the lives of people living with dementia and those around them, providing vital support, campaigning for change and funding research into dementia diagnosis, treatment and care.
Its Memory Walks bring thousands of people together at events across the UK during September and October, with participants walking for, or in memory of, someone special while raising funds to help support the charity’s work.
For the Masterframe team, the day began with an early meet-up at Stratford before travelling across London to Potters Fields Park, where the London Memory Walk would begin.
With the sun shining, Steph, Rebecca and Sade joined a sea of blue Alzheimer’s Society T-shirts overlooking the Thames and Tower Bridge. It was a chance to take in the atmosphere and read some of the many moving messages explaining who people were walking for and why the event meant so much to them.
There were even plenty of four-legged participants joining the walk, complete with their own T-shirts and bandanas – something that went down particularly well with our three dog-loving walkers!
Five kilometres through the heart of London
Following a suitably energetic Zumba warm-up and some inspiring words from the organisers and fundraisers, the team headed to the start line for the 5km route.
Setting off just after midday, they made their way through some of London’s best-known locations, including bustling Borough Market, Tate Modern and the area around Shakespeare’s Globe, before continuing towards St Paul’s and London Bridge.
Despite passing more than a few tempting pubs and restaurants along the way, the team resisted the opportunity for a quick refreshment and kept going!
Around an hour and a half after setting off, they completed the final loop over the bridge and returned to Potters Fields Park to cross the finish line and collect their well-earned Memory Walk medals.
Thank you for your support
Most importantly, the team has exceeded its original fundraising target.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported Steph, Rebecca and Sade, including friends, family, colleagues, customers and suppliers. Every donation helps Alzheimer’s Society continue its work supporting people affected by dementia today while funding research that could lead to earlier diagnosis, improved treatments and better outcomes in the future.
There is still time to support the Masterframe team and make a donation. Every contribution, however large or small, can make a difference.
Donate via the Masterframe JustGiving page.
Thank you to everyone who has supported us.
